Research and Development
R&D (Research & Development) plays a very important role in the success of an organisation as well as National development. R&D contributes to sustainability. It is the R&D function that provides a platform for creativity and innovation to flourish in an organisation. Innovative breakthroughs have happened only because of painstaking efforts of the R&D function. Our institution has extensive relationships with industries in the pursuit of research and development with market perspective. These relationships exist in several ways.
Department of Electronics and communication is Anna University recognised research centre for doing “Collaborative research program” &D “Ph.D. / M.S” (By Research) Programmes.
Department of ECE is recognized Research Center under Anna University since 2011.

C.Arunachalperumal, Ms.M.Vanithalakshmi from Department of ECE has received a fund off Rs.14.78 lakhs from ISRO for the research project “VHDL Implementation of Efficient Trellis coded spatial modulation for MIMO systems”.
Title | VHDL Implementation of Efficient Trellis coded spatial modulation for MIMO systems |
Funding Agency | Indian Space Research organization (ISRO) |
Principal Investigator |
Dr.C.Arunachalaperumal, Professor |
Co-PI |
Ms.M.Vanithalakshmi, Associate Professor |
Team Members | Mr.S.Dhilipkumar, AP Ms.G.Abija, AP |
Fund Amount | Rs.14,78,000. |
About the Project | Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology constitutes a breakthrough in the design of wireless communication systems, and is already at the core of wireless standards. Spatial modulation in which multiple antennas are used to convey information besides the conventional M-ary signal constellations, is a new multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmission technique. MIMO exploits the advantages of diversity. Trellis coded modulation was a methodology in which encoding and modulation are considered as single entity. Trellis coded modulation is implemented in MIMO to increase the spectral efficiency. There are few schemes have been proposed based on the conventional Trellis coded modulation and spatial modulation. In this project these two schemes are combined with a different perspective and analysed. And applicability of MIMO in satellite communication is discussed. |
J.M.Mathana, Dr.C.Arunachalperumal from Department of ECE have received a fund off Rs.14.90 lakhs from CVRDE for the research project “Study on Fault Diagnosis and Health Monitoring of Engine Control Junction Box fort Arjun MBT MK-1”.
Title | Study on Fault Diagnosis and Health Monitoring of Engine Control Junction Box fort Arjun MBT MK-1 |
Funding Agency | CVRDE-DRDO Combat Vehicles Research & Development-Defence Research & Development Organisation. |
Principal Investigators |
Dr.J.M.Mathana, Professor & Head |
Dr.C.Arunachalaperumal, Professor |
|
Co-PIs | Ms.R.Radhika, Associate Professor Mr.D.Balakumaran, AP |
Fund Sanctioned | Rs.14,90,000. |
About the Project | The Electrical system of Arjun MBT Mk-I consists of DC single wire, 24 V DC nominal positive control system with negative earthed to chasis and chasis is used as return path. Engine Control junction box plays a vital role. Monitoring and diagnosis of fault is very important for any control system. If there is any problem in ECJB the technical experts would need to diagnosis and eradicate the problem. Also the expert has to open the cover of ECJB and check the health of every relay manually. For that he has to refer the wiring diagram that won’t be normally available at the vehicle. Herewith an online monitoring and diagnosis system for Arjun MBT Mk–I Engine Control system is proposed. The proposed system mainly relies on the design of Analog and Digital data acquisition system using VLSI technology. |

CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE IN IOT
The Internet of Things (IoT) promises to connect single device to larger networks and interoperable systems with Software, Hardware and analytics creating in paradigm shift in the world. IoT allows devices on closed private internet connections to communicate with others and it brings those networks together. IoT design challenges with mesh of several domains in order to develop a product. Bringing different domain together is quite a challenge for the design engineers. The Centre of Excellence in IoT at ECE department offers training to the students of all circuit branches and motivates the student to learn and develop new products which may come with innovative features.
The Centre of Excellence in IoT at ECE department is designed and equipped to develop systems for the below mentioned applications.
- IoT devices for Biomedical and Wearable Applications
- IoT devices for Agriculture Applications
- IoT devices for Sericulture Applications
- IoT devices for Automobile Health monitoring.
- DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF LIFE SAVER DRONE
- AUTOMATIC ROTI MAKER
- AUTOMATED WHEEL CHAIR CUM STRECTCHER FOR PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED
