INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE (ICC)
In compliance with the instructions of National Commission for women and guidelines issued in implementation of the directives of Hon’ble Supreme Court Judgement dated 13/8/1997 in the case of Visakha and others vs. State of Rajasthan and Others on the subject of sexual harassment of women in the workplace, Internal Complaint Committee for considering complaints of sexual harassment of women working in the Department of Science and Technology is recommended.
The ICC is established for prevention of sexual harassment of women at campus as per “THE SEXUAL HARASSMENT OF WOMEN (PREVENTION, PROHIBITION AND REDRESSAL) AT WORKPLACE ACT, 2013” and vide VTU/BGWICC/2017-18/g for constitution of college Internal Complaint Committee (CICC).As per the instructions of AICTE, UGC, Anna University and the Supreme Court Internal complaints Committee (ICC) has been established in our college under the guidelines of VISHAKA committee on 22/06/2018.

Aim | To promote gender sensitivity in the college and conduct diverse programs to sensitise both male and female members and create harmonious atmosphere on the campus. |
Objectives | To create awareness about the guidelines of Supreme Court and to ensure that sexual harassment is treated as an unacceptable social behaviour within the college.To create a secure physical and social environment to deter acts of sexual harassment.To provide an environment free of gender discrimination.To develop the guidelines and norms for a policy against sexual harassmentTo develop principles and procedures to combat sexual harassment.To organise gender sensitisation awareness programmeTo conduct guest lectures and workshops to educate the female members on the numerous opportunities available to enhance their leadership skills. |
Roles & Responsibilities | To create an awareness of the Women’s Right and to empower women with knowledge, passion and purpose.Conduct activities on women empowermentTo receive complaints of sexual harassment in any branch or department of our institution. This would include the complaints from teaching, non-teaching and female students.Taking care of women/men sexual harassment issues and redressal. |
