Professional Summary
Dr. S. Salivahanan, born on 3rd October 1954, he is serving as Advisor of S.A. Engineering College (Autonomous), Chennai. Prior to this he worked as the Vice Chancellor of Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr.Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, Avadi, Chennai for four years and four months. Earlier, he was the Principal of SSN College of Engineering, Chennai for 17 years and HOD in the Department of ECE in Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi for 14 years. He is also currently serving as the Distinguished Adjunct Professor in UCSI University, Malaysia and Distinguished Visiting Professor in USIM University, Malaysia.
He obtained his B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, M.E. degree in Communication Systems from NIT, Trichy and Ph.D. in the area of Microwave Integrated Circuits from Madurai Kamaraj University.
He has four and a half decades of teaching, research, administration and industrial experience both in India and abroad. He has teaching experiences at NIT, Trichy, A.C. College of Engineering and Technology, Karaikudi, R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore and Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi. He has Industrial experiences as Scientist/Engineer at Space Application Centre, ISRO, Ahmedabad, Telecommunication Engineer at State organization of Electricity, IRAQ and Electronics Engineer at Electric Dar Establishment, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He is the author of 67 popular books, which include all-time best sellers such as Basic Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronic Devices and Circuits, Linear Integrated Circuits and Electromagnetic Fields and waves published by McGraw Hill Education, Digital Signal Processing by McGraw Hill International which has also been translated into Mandarin, the Chinese language. He has also authored the books on Digital Circuits and Design published by Oxford University Press and Control Systems Engineering and Circuit Theory: Analysis and Synthesis published by Pearson Education.
He has published more than 100 research papers in refereed International Journals and Conferences. He has produced seven Ph.Ds in the area of Microwave engineering and VLSI.
Professor Salivahanan is the recipient of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan National Award for Best Engineering College Principal for 2011 and Life Time Achievement Award for 2018 from ISTE, and IEEE Outstanding Branch Counsellor and Advisor Award in the Asia-Pacific region for 1996–97. He was the Chairman of IEEE Madras Section for two years, 2008 and 2009, Chairman of Microwave Theory and Techniques Society for six years from 2010 to 2016 and the Chairman of Signal Processing Society of IEEE Madras Section for 5 years since 2017. He was also a Syndicate Member of Anna University and Senate member of University of Madras. He was also a member of DST expert group on Pattern Facilitation Programme and a Member of DST Expert Group on State Council of Science and Technology.
He is a senior life member of IEEE, Fellow of IETE, Fellow of The Institution of Engineers (India), Life Member of ISTE and Life member of Society for EMC Engineers. He is also a member of IEEE societies in Microwave Theory and Techniques, Communication, Signal Processing and Aerospace and Electronics. He was a member of Education Activities Committee of IEEE Region 10 and Working Group on Technical & Professional Education of the Eleventh Five Year Planning Commission (2007 – 2012), Government of Tamil Nadu.
